Utilities, Transportation & Telecommunications
Water/Wastewater: Halifax County owns
and operates
its own water and wastewater facilities. The County is also
served by the Town of Weldon and the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary
District.
Electricity: No matter where you
choose to locate or live, reliable electrical service is
available through Dominion NC Power, Progress Energy,
Halifax Electric Membership Corporation, Roanoke Electric
Membership Corporation, the Town of Enfield and the Town of
Scotland Neck. Supplies of electricity are abundant for the

Natural Gas: Natural Gas service is provided by
Piedmont Natural Gas in abundant supplies for both firm and

Airline Services: Halifax County is within an hour and
one-half drive of
Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Richmond
International Airport in Virginia. The Halifax County
Airport has more than one runway, the longest of which is a
paved runway extending 4006 feet. The facility is at an
elevation of 256 feet at a distance of about 3 miles from
Roanoke Rapids.

Highways: Halifax County is served by Interstate 95,
the nation's major north-south thoroughfare. In addition,
tree major highways traverse Halifax County (US Highways
